There’s a new talk of the town, and it’s brewing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the NEOM Company Board of Directors, has recently announced the development of the first luxury island destination in NEOM.
What is NEOM?
NEOM is a $500 billion-dollar smart city being developed on the ancient lands of Tabuk Province in Saudi Arabia. According to the official NEOM website, the megaproject will be “enhanced by world-leading design, immersive digital experiences, and seamless travel,” and will be powered by renewable energy sources.
What’s more, NEOM will serve as a prime tourist destination and support Saudi Arabia’s overall ambitious national tourism strategy.
How Sindalah Fits In
Sindalah is set to ‘open its doors’ in early 2024 and will cover an area of 840,000 sq. meters. Its development is expected to create 3,500 jobs across tourism, hospitality, and leisure industries.
Most importantly, Sindalah is expected to become a popular addition to NEOM and further boost tourism for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
“This is another significant moment for NEOM and a major step in the Kingdom realizing its tourism ambitions under Vision 2030. Sindalah will be NEOM’s first luxury island and yacht club destination in the Red Sea, providing a scenic gateway to the Red Sea that will become the region’s most exciting and attractive tourism location. It will be a destination where travelers can experience the true beauty of NEOM and Saudi Arabia, above and below the water, making Sindalah the future of luxury travel,” emphasized His Royal Highness.
When it comes to specifics, the island is being developed with 8 key goals in mind: Island life reimagined, an incomparable vision, an international hub for the yachting community, cutting-edge solar technology, hosting year-round experiences, an architectural marvel, in harmony with the sea, and a glamourous getaway.
Sindalah will feature a wide array of state-of-the-art facilities and premium amenities to attract and cater to visitors looking to unwind in and around the Red Sea.
Visitors can choose from 413 premium hotel rooms—including 88 villas—and 333 world class service apartments, 51 luxury retail outlets, a beach club, yacht club, sports club, spa and wellness centers, and 38 restaurants.
There will be an 86-berth marina and 75 offshore buoys that will accommodate luxury vessels and yachts.
Furthermore, Sindalah will offer a 6,474-yard (5,920 meters) par 70 golf course in its efforts to become a top golfing destination around the world.
Officials are expecting 11 percent of all people touring NEOM to visit the island and have a goal to reach 2400 visitors per day by 2028.
