2 Week Canada Itinerary: The Ultimate Trip

Ahh, Canada, the most exciting travel destination north of the United States, well, outside of Santa’s North pole of course.

Today, you’ve landed here to check out an exciting itinerary for travel across the world’s 2nd largest country, and thankfully, I’ve got an adventurous 2 week plan for you that’ll cover fun things to do and places to see in Canada.

We’re going to start on the western end in Vancouver, British Columbia, and make our way down to the southeast, finalizing your amazing trip in Toronto, Ontario. So, let’s get started!

Day 1: Vancouver

Welcome to Vancouver! Today will be your first introduction to the beautiful North American country of Canada.

Since you’ve just arrived, give yourself time to check into your hotel, relax, and get familiar with your surroundings. Trust me, you have plenty of time to get acquainted with Canadian lifestyle, culture, and attractions over the next two weeks, so don’t feel obligated to do tons on your very first day.

What to do and see in Vancouver?

Let’s enjoy your arrival into Vancouver with some simple leisure activities that’ll take you across the city and get you familiar with the environment.  

You’ll want to head over to Science World to enjoy one of the most iconic landmarks in Vancouver. Feel free to go inside the Geodesic dome and explore its interactive exhibits, but the goal is to have you stroll the area and take in the magnificent sights of False Creek and the surrounding architecture.

Next, head over to the Vancouver Art Gallery and explore 12,000 pieces of work from local and international artists.

Furthermore, let’s head over to Gastown and check out the steam-powered clock and buildings of the historic neighborhood. Next, make your way to Robson Street to enjoy shops, dining, and festive crowds along one of the city’s busiest roads.

Day 2: Vancouver

On this day, you’ll officially start your adventure and visit top attractions across Vancouver.

What to do and see in Vancouver?

Let’s start your day with a trip to the 168m meter (553 feet) tall Vancouver Lookout for a spectacular bird’s eye, panoramic view of the city.

Next, you’ll have two options, and if you can squeeze time in, hey, why not just do them both! Head to Dr. Su Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden or Queen Elizabeth Park to take in beautiful floral patterns and garden displays.

Afterwards, you’ll definitely want to visit Canada Place, which is home to the Vancouver Convention Centre, Pan Pacific Vancouver Hotel, and Vancouver World Trade Center. Some consider the captivating architecture, stunning harbour views, and array of buildings in the area equivalent to visiting the Sydney Opera and its surrounding area. 

While there, experience FlyOver Canada, which takes guests on a virtual flight over Canada. In the evening, finish your night with delicious food at Richmond Night Market.

Day 3: Vancouver

Find time to enjoy great local food and enjoy fun leisure activities.

What to do and see in Vancouver?

Today, let’s begin with a trip to Vancouver Aquarium, wherein lies over 60,000 marine creatures.

Afterwards, lets rent a bicycle and enjoy an incredibly scenic cycling route around Stanley Park, which is North America’s 3rd largest park.

Next, enjoy local food and take in the scenery at Granville Island Public Market. You’ll find fresh fruit, pastries, bagels, wraps, pizza, and more. You’ll see dozens of boats, kayaks, and paddlers in Fresh Creek.

Hopefully you’ve done all of that by mid-afternoon’s time, cause you’re going to spend the next few hours frolicking in the sand and enjoying water activities at Kitsilano Beach, perhaps the most popular beach in Vancouver.

Day 4: Vancouver

Get high above the city and catch sweeping bird’s eye views of Vancouver and get in some shopping.

What to do and see in place name?

Let’s enjoy a short hike to Prospect Point Lookout. There, you’ll have an exceptional vantage point of Vancouver along with the iconic ions Gate Bridge.

Afterwards, venture over to Grouse Mountain. Don’t worry, you won’t need to hike much. Instead, take the Grouse Mountain Sky Ride to the top and then proceed to Capilano Suspension Bridge for a scenic-yet-heart-pumping view of the surrounding forestry 70-meters above the ground.   

Lastly, let’s end your wonderful visit to Vancouver with a tour of the exhibits and displays at the Museum of Vancouver, and then do some shopping for souvenirs in Chinatown.

Day 5: Winnipeg, Manitoba

Travel Time: 3 hours from Vancouver by flight.

Winnipeg is loaded with historical attractions and things to do if you’re traveling with children. There are plenty buildings to explore that have contributed to the culture and heritage of the region and Canada, as well as museums and parks that will have young persons going wild.

What to do and see in Winnipeg?

Let’s begin your day with a trip to Gardens at the Leaf, a 30-acre greenspace filled with scenic walkways, gardens, and wonderful floral designs.

When you’re finished, head over to the Manitoba Legislative Building for a grand tour of the neoclassical historical landmark home to the Legislative Assembly and catch a live assembly session taking place.

Next, visit Fort Gibraltar and check out living history demonstrations of life at the former military stronghold and once bustling fur trading post. Watch engaging presentations of character actors performing as blacksmiths and have the chance to throw axes.

In the late afternoon or evening, soak in an outdoor bath surrounded by nature at Thermea by Nordik Spa-Nature.

Day 6: Winnipeg, Manitoba

Traveling with the kiddos? Well I’ve got a day full of wonderful activities they’ll love. And if not, you’ll love them too!

What to do and see in Winnipeg?

In the morning, enjoy wild animals at the 80-acre Assiniboine Park Zoo. You’ll want to especially check out the polar bear exhibit and robotic dinosaurs!

Next, if you’re traveling with kiddos, make arrangements to check out Assiniboine Park, Manitoba Children’s Museum, or Manitoba Museum.

If this an adults-only kind of trip, instead, head over to the Royal Canadian Mint Museum or Royal Aviation Museum for an in-depth look at Canadian currency and history of flight.

Let’s end your day with an exciting trip to Canada Life Centre where you can view a live Winnipeg Jets hockey game, concert, or entertainment show.

Day 7: Winnipeg, Manitoba

Let’s learn about local history and perspectives and gamble, err, win some money.

What to do and see in Winnipeg?

Well finish out your last day in Winnipeg with a trip to the Canadian Human Rights Museum where you’ll learn about human rights cases across Canada and the world. Additionally, you’ll feel inspired to become a better activist in the rights for the disadvantaged.

When you’re done, make your way to Osborne Village to check out local emerging artists and musicians, as well as a performing arts show at the Gas Station Arts Centre.

Day 8: Montreal, Quebec

Travel Time: 3 hours from Winnipeg by flight.

Welcome to the 2nd most populous city in Canada, and with that, you know there’s going to be tons to explore, from the captivating architecture to specialty museums, theme parks and festive public squares.

What to do and see in Montreal?

The magnificent Notre-Dame Basilica Church awaits for you to step in its doors are marvel at its architectural and aesthetic beauty at the top of the morning.

Next, you’ll want to take advantage of the free admission at Barbo Expo and check out over 1000 Barbies while learning about the captivating history of the iconic toy.

Afterwards, spend a few hours peering over the city from 165 meters above the ground at The Montreal Tower.

When you’re finished, feel free to hang out amongst the people with joyous leisure trips to the shops and restaurants along Saint Paul Street West and at Underground City Mall.

Day 9: Montreal, Quebec

This day is all about fun thrills so wear your best walking shoes.

What to do and see in Montreal?

Today is a big day. You’ll spend most of your time on adrenaline-pumping rollercoasters and amusement rides at La Ronde Six Flags, which is the largest theme park in Quebec.

Only after you’ve ridden every single rollercoaster there is at the park, can you spend your evening enjoying the sights, sounds, and food at Quartier des Spectacles, an arts and entertainment district in downtown.

Day 10: Montreal, Quebec

Enjoy the beautiful sights across Montreal and have some heart-pumping fun while you’re at it.

What to do and see in Montreal?

Begin the day with an exploration of Montreal Botanical Gardens, which houses over 22,000 plant species over 75 hectares.

Next, head to the Biosphere Environment Museum, or Biodome, for close encounters with animals and marine life spanning 4 different ecosystems. Plus, the Biodome is located at Olympic Park, which consists of a massive city park, Olympic Stadium, and Rio Tintan Alcan Planetarium.

Once you’re done, go all out on a riveting, hair rising aerial adventure on Tyrolienne MTL Zipline, which is located at Old Port of Montreal. You’ll want to spend a few hours here, too, as it’s home to a skating rink, science centre, dinosaur exhibit, Ferris Wheel, boating activities, and more!

Day 11: Toronto, Ontario

Travel Time: 1.5 Hours from Montreal.

You’re final few days in Canada. Let’s explore Toronto, which is known for its multiculturism, skyscrapers, cuisine, arts, and sports. Plus, it’s only 80 miles away from Niagara Falls, which you’ll also be visiting!

What to do and see in Toronto?

You’ll want to start your day with fun Insta-worthy pictures right by the Toronto Sign at Nathan Phillips Square.

Afterwards, pay a visit to Graffiti Alley to check out the fascinating street art laced across buildings in the city’s Fashion District, and take a stroll down Queen Street West while you’re at it.

Next, find time to unwind and relax at Edwards Garden, a free admission botanical garden spanning 4 acres.

Next, make your way across town to Toronto Harbour and enjoy the festive atmosphere and remarkable sights at Harbourfront Centre. Hopefully, you’ll also get the chance to experience a local cultural event, which takes place there frequently throughout the year.

Day 12: Niagara Falls, Ontario

Travel Time: 2 Hours

Today, you’re going to wake up bright and early and head towards the great Niagara Falls. Oh yeah!

How to Get to Niagara Falls from Toronto?

Niagara Falls is only about 80 miles from Toronto. You can reach Niagara Falls by car (1.5 hours), bus (2 hours), or train (2 hours).

What to do at Niagara Falls?

There are three waterfalls that Niagara Falls composes of, actually. They are American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Horseshoe Falls, which is the largest. Outside of peering out at the waterfalls from scenic platforms, you’ll want to book ma seat on the Hornblower Boat Tour on the Canadian side or the Maid of the Mist on the American. The half hour cruise takes guests as close as you’ll ever get to Niagara Falls, so don’t hesitate to hop aboard this once and a lifetime experience!

Once done with your adventure, head back into Toronto.

Day 13: Toronto, Ontario

Head to the top of the city and enjoy a local live musical performance.

What to do and see in Toronto?

Head high above the city with a trip to CN Tower’s 553.3-metre high observation deck. Next, venture over to the Hockey Hall of Fame for an in-depth look at the game of Hockey and its star moments and players.

Stop by St. Lawrence Market for fresh fruit/vegetables and delectable meat and seafood dishes, in addition to shopping for treats to take home.

Next, I highly recommend checking out a live musical performance at the Royal Conservatory of Music, which is regarded as one of the top musical institutions in Canada.

Later, spend some time wondering around Yonge-Dundas Square, a public square known for its shops, entertainment, and lively nightlife.

Day 14: Toronto, Ontario

Nothing action packed. Just enjoy your last day surrounded by soothing views and get in time for lots of shopping before your departure.

What to do and see in Toronto?

Let’s finish out your 2 weeks in Canada with a ferry trip to the relaxing Toronto Island Park. There, enjoy a multitude of public art, bird watching, boating, fishing, gardens, trails, splash pads, beaches, boardwalks, a Far Enough Farm and Centreville Amusement Park.

Later, visit Toronto’s best shopping centers and neighborhood such as Chinatown, CF Toronto Eaton Centre, Queen Street, Yorkville Village, and Kensington Market, to buy souvenirs to take home from your wonderful vacation.
