Located in New South Wales, Sydney is known on the world stage for its fantastic beaches. 

Stretching along the coast, there are so many beautiful golden sand beaches to spend a summer’s day swimming, relaxing, and soaking up the sun.

You can’t visit Sydney without visiting the famous Bondi Beach. 

As one of the closest beaches to the CBD, Bondi Beach is easy to get to via car, train or bus and is a must-visit as it’s one of the best beaches not only in Sydney but also Australia. 

There is plenty to do at Bondi Beach, such as

  • Watching the famous Bondi Rescue lifeguards rescue people

Manly Beach

On the other side of the city is where you’ll find Manly Beach, one of the best beaches to visit in Sydney. 

To get to Manly Beach from the CBD, you have to hop on the ferry, which takes around 30-minutes but the views along the way make up for it. 

If you’re looking for a beach with fewer crowds than Bondi, Manly is it. Not only is Manly another excellent surf beach, but there is plenty to do there as well, such as 

  • Grabbing a coffee at one of the many beachfront cafes
  • Rollerblading along the promenade
  • Learning to surf
  • Relaxing on the sand

Manly is also a fantastic beach for families as kids can swim in the netted beach pool, visit the Manly Sealife Sanctuary and enjoy some freshly cooked fish and chips on the beach. 

Coogee Beach

Located on the southern end of the city, Coogee Beach is one of the best beaches to visit in Sydney because it has something for everyone. 

Thanks to Wedding Cake Island, which shelters the beach from larger swells, people of all ages can enjoy the calm waters at Coogee Beach.

There is something for everyone to enjoy at this popular beach, including 

  • Swimming in the crystal clear waters 
  • Doing laps in the McIver’s Baths (the only seawater pool in Australia reserved for women) 
  • Enjoying a picnic at one of the seaside parks 
  • Grabbing a bite to eat at one of the nearby restaurants
